The owners of Everton have put the club up for sale just two years after buying into the Premier League team. The Friedkin Group purchased the Merseyside club in 2024 at a valuation of £400m. Now, they say, they are “exploring new investment options for Everton Football Club, including the potential sale of a controlling interest”. The club owners would be looking to make the most of the recent valuation boost for Premier League clubs which occurred when a consortium involving Jeff Bezos purchased a significant majority stake in city rivals Liverpool at a valuation of £4.6bn.  “When TFG became custodians of Everton,” a statement read, “the Club faced significant financial uncertainty and challenges both on and off the pitch.
